EGF plays a key role in ANCOP training in Afghanistan

Following the establishment of the NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan (NTM-A) during the Strasbourg-Kehl NATO summit in April 2009, EGF is engaged in the Afghan theater since 8 Dec 2009, playing a relevant role in the training of the Afghan National Police. EGF is involved in three areas of commitment on the theatre: EGF experts to the NTM-A CTAG-P chain of command, mentors and training advisors to the ANP, mentors to the Afghan Uniformed Police through the provision of Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Teams.

In addition, under the authority of Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCB)/ EGF has taken an active part in the drafting of the first version of the POMLT CONOPS (annex B dealing with training) in November 2009. EGF is also deeply involved in POMLT phase II training dedicated to future mentors. It has been widely engaged in the training event held in the EGF Centre National d'Entrainement des Forces de Gendarmerie (CNEFG) in Saint-Astier (France) in November/December 2010. This training centre, together with the US Joint Multinational Readiness Centre- JMRC, has been entitled by SHAPE to host and organize standardized POMLT phase II training sessions.

EGF has the leading role in ANCOP training. Initially deployed with a force of 196 EGF Members, EGF Force now reaches the total figure of 388 personnel provided by France, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Turkey: 6 experts in the CTAG-P chain of command, 148 trainers in the EGF training centers and 234 mentors deployed in the 11 EGF POMLTs throughout Afghanistan.
