A delegation of the Committee for Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management (CIVCOM) visited today the EUROGENDFOR Permanent Headquarters (PHQ) to explore the potential cooperation in support of European security and ways of enhancing EUROGENDFOR's contribution to the European Union crisis management missions and operations. The CIVCOM —composed of representatives of the European Union member states, and part of the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the civilian side of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP)— is an advisory body within the European Union dealing with the civilian aspect of crisis management.

The visit’s idea originated during the summer of 2018, in preparation of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union to be held in the first semester of 2019. It was then decided that EUROGENDFOR would organise and host said visit, mainly focused on the capabilities of the European Gendarmerie Force in respect to its contribution to the crisis area management and the Security Sector Reform, in particular but not limited to scenarios of intervention, planning and deployment capabilities.

Besides visiting the EUROGENDFOR PHQ, the delegation, composed of 23 representatives, attended presentations from the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU) and the NATO Stability Policing Centre of Excellence (NATO SP CoE).
